Mommy Kuting & Buting's Fun Adventures
Actually, these are just trips to the mall. But our little escapades make me very happy. It all started with the need for buting not to be exposed to dust (high risk asthmatic issues) when the house is being cleaned. Since weekends are usually hectic, weekly house cleaning has to be done during weekdays. Hence this delightful consequence. So far, we have been at market! market! and bhs.
We also do a weekly run at Puregold since I now make time to plan her menu since she is becoming very picky eater.
All these make me appreciate my midshift work :) Even if I am already tired before I start to work, just thinking about the time spent with buting makes it worthwhile.

FTNB : Somethin' Fishy, Eastwood City Walk
A number of firsts in this eating adventure for little buting:
- first eat all you can resto (libre na - thanks po tita!! - sulit pa kasi maraming kinain)
- first shake (watermelon)
- first time to use a straw (hangang kalahati lang yung akyat ng liquid :)
- first time to listen to a live band (may roaming band dun; natutuwa siya nung malayo sila pero nung kami na ang kinalantahan, di na nya type - obvious ba sa pic hehe)

ER
Hinihingal kasi si buting at kakaiba ang bilis ng heartbeat niya. Pagka-text ko kay doc, dalhin daw sa ER. First time kaya kabado kami.
Pagdating sa SLBGC, ay, parang walang sakit. Kaya lang, nung nagsuka, nabawasan ang energy si buting. Nung kinuhanan ng vitals, walang reklamo. Kailangan nga lang siyang i-xray para ma-rule out ang pneumonia. Si daddy ang kasama sa xray room at doon daw si buting umiyak kasi pinahihiga siya eh ayaw niya. Pero paglabas ng xray room, parang walang nangyari :)
Parang asthma pero di pa full blown. Di ako magtataka kasi si mommy, may childhood asthma. Para maagapan, nebulizer ang gamot.
Dear little buting,
You made me proud kasi halos lahat nurses and doctor, gulat na gulat kasi di ka umiiyak sa lahat ng procedures na gawin nila. In fairness, pati sa nebulizing sessions mo, mula hospital hanggang sa bahay, very cooperative ka - 15 mins kaya halos ang isang session. Ayaw mo talagang magka-asthma kung ganun. Very good my little buting :)

Nauna pang makapag-swimming sa condo pool si buting kaysa sa daddy niya. To think na mag - 6 years na kami dito hehe

Dehydration and Systemic Viral Illness
Buting was confined in the hospital due to possible dehydration. She was having recurring high fever caused by an illness, which was identified only after 24 hours in the hospital. At first, we were hesitant to have her confined when the ER pedia said she could not see anything wrong except that she has a recurring fever. However, dehydration is something that has be taken seriously according to the doctor. Imagine my guilt (having second thoughts re confinement) when another pedia doing the rounds rattled off a list of complications due to dehydration. I almost cried. It was not the cost we were worried about since my company HMO covers everything but the injections and IV and the feeling of being cooped up in a hospital are some things I don't want Buting to experience at such a young age - 1 yr and 10 months...I know such things are bound to happen, and it just did.
All in all, Buting's first hospital confinement is ok. Having a large private suite in SLBGC with a lazy boy, big sofa, and big LCD TV helped too :)
Dear Little Buting,
Getting sick is part of life but I just hope it will not involve any needles since it really pains me and your daddy to see you get hurt.
Nevertheless, here are the highlights of your first hospital stay:
- although you cry during injections and checking of vitals, it was short and as if nothing happened after
- when the doctor prohibited us from roaming the halls due to infectious diseases like measles, you did not anymore insist on going out
- you started singing the intro song of Frozen when you wanted to let us know you want to watch the movie. Before, you just sing "let it go, let it go..." :)
- you removed your IV in the wee hours of the morning when everybody's asleep. Good thing the doctor did not anymore advise to re-insert the IV since your appetitte has returned to normal and you were very active. Besides, you have used up almost 2 IV bottles already.
- eventually, you have gotten used to having your vitals checked. You were such a good girl!
- when the nurse said it was possible we will be discharged already, you said very clearly "wonderful!".
